Needles were normally sold in tins containing 50, 100 or 200. The needles were also sold in various categories, i.e. soft, medium, loud and "extra loud". Needles were designed for a single play, and then to be discarded. They were made of steel with a very soft metal plating as not to damage the record being played.


Nipper was used in conjunction with the Berliner phonograph for the famous Victor Trademark.
